RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT WORKER

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a full-time 5-month Contract Residential Support Worker (DCW1) to join our Family Supports team! In this role you will be providing emotional and practical support to the pregnant and parenting youth and their children in our program s . This is a temporary pilot project under OPSEU Local 258.

• Support pregnant and parenting youth and their children with a variety of life challenges including living with mental health issues and trauma.
• Assess the individual strengths of each program participant s and use them as a foundation on which to build individual success.
• Develop strong supportive relationships with the participant s and their children that foster a sense of relational safety.
• Work in collaboration with the Pregnant and Parenting Team and community partners to ensure programs and services are responsive and seamless.
• Degree or diploma of an accredited University or College with a major in Social Work Child and Youth Work Counselling or other social science or health related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years experience working with youth and young children ideally pregnant and parenting youth
• Demonstrated knowledge of perinatal mental wellness infant and early childhood development and parent-child attachment.
• Strong u nderstanding of strategies to support youth in the areas of mental health addictions and trauma infant development and community resources.

Knowledge of resources community supports and services in the region for pregnant and parenting youth.

• This is a F ull- T ime Contract role for approximately 5 months that requires shifts which are primarily scheduled during daytime hours and will include occasional evenings and Saturdays depending on programs needs.
• Must be able to provide either proof of vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated.
