This is an exciting opportunity that brings together the retail grocery sector and an enhanced culinary experience.The Maintenance Technician is responsible to perform preventative maintenance mechanical and electrical repairs to Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and operate a refrigeration plant. The successful candidate will assist with repairs on all equipment throughout the site, actively contributes to a positive and productive working environment, ensure proper record keeping of site equipment, rack inspections, and conduct all battery maintenance and repairs.

Follow and maintain preventative maintenance schedule on all equipment and building.
Operation of Ammonia and Glycol Refrigeration Plant as per provincial regulations.
Understand Preventive Maintenance Programs such as Verisae, Capital Asset Tracking with Sobeys MSC (Maintenance Solution Center).
Perform necessary repairs and PM's on all equipment and building.
Maintain parts inventory and re-ordering replacement parts as needed.
Complete all daily inspections in a thorough and timely manner.
Maintain site battery fleet and chargers.
Daily inspection and record keeping of refrigeration system.
Daily inspection and record keeping of sprinkler systems.
Adhere to and implement all applicable Food Safety program requirements.
Perform necessary maintenance and repairs on all Sobeys property including MHE, batteries, equipment and building.
Refrigeration duties as per local Legislation if applicable.
All other duties as required to maintain the central kitchen.
Technical training and/or 3-years’ experience in maintenance and repair for various types of machinery, facility material handling, and refrigeration systems.
Journeyman ticket in one of the building trades – e.g., electrician, mechanical preferred).
Experience in general technical troubleshooting of building equipment and hands-on operating, diagnostics, and repair.
Understand Preventive Maintenance Programs or CMMS experience.
Knowledge and experience of an Industrial Refrigeration System.
Knowledge and experience of Sprinkler or Fire control system.
Experience in a food manufacturing, warehouse, or production operations maintenance environment (preferred).
Experience in any of industrial forklift and pallet jack repair and maintenance, industrial battery maintenance repair and maintenance, welding, or electrical repair (preferred).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for tracking and scheduling of maintenance of repairs.
Experience in use of Hot Work Permits preferred
Available to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
