With over 400 employees it is the largest commercial printing plant of magazines flyers catalogues and directories in Canada. Owen Sound is a smaller city filled with cultural outdoor and recreational activities.

Industrial Electrical Apprentice

Status: Full Time
Reports To: Electrician Lead Hand

We are currently seeking an Industrial Electrical Apprentice. This position provides hands-on support in the installation maintenance and repair of industrial electrical systems and equipment. The role involves assisting with troubleshooting performing basic electrical tasks and learning advanced techniques under the guidance of experienced electricians. This is an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills and gain practical experience in a dynamic industrial environment.
When your actions lead to success:
Assist licensed electricians with the installation maintenance and repair of industrial electrical systems and equipment.
Help run and terminate wiring conduit and cable for machinery and control systems
Support troubleshooting of electrical issues including motors sensors and control panels.
Perform basic tasks such as replacing fuses bulbs and simple components under supervision.
Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics diagrams and technical manuals.
Operate hand tools and electrical testing equipment safely and maintain them in good condition.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist in preparing materials for projects.
Document work performed and report any irregularities to senior electricians.
Participate in on-the-job training and classroom instruction to develop electrical trade skills.
Collaborate with other trades (e.g. millwrights mechanics) to complete maintenance and installation projects.
High school diploma or equivalent (technical courses are an asset but not required)
Enrollment in or eligibility for the Industrial Electrical Apprenticeship (442A) program.
Basic understanding of mechanical systems and safety practices.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (training provided as needed).
Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting and working in varied environments.
Previous industrial or maintenance experience is an asset but not required
