Reporting to the Senior Manager Justice System Interface & Forensic Service Pathways the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is recruiting a full-time permanent Clinical Psychologist to work primarily with the Forensic Assessment and Triage Unit (FATU) and the Brief Assessment Unit (BAU).
The successful candidate will plan conduct and supervise psychological services including evidence-based assessment treatment and consultation for clients from diverse backgrounds who may be suffering from mental health and addiction problems and who are detained under the Criminal Code or under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Review Board (ORB) and admitted to the CAMH Forensic Service or referred to the BAU for court ordered assessments. As an integral member of the interprofessional clinical teams the candidate will be responsible for conducting screeners risk assessments and psychological assessments to support diagnostic treatment decisions and risk management care planning for inpatients of the Forensic Service. You will provide short term therapeutic interventions for forensic inpatients as well as triage assess and coordinate specialized interventions with other clinicians and service providers in accordance with established forensic clinical pathways. Other responsibilities will include the completion of comprehensive psychological assessments for other clinics across the Forensic Service including comprehensive psychological assessments for court-ordered NCR Assessments (including testing in the areas of cognition personality malingering and others). The successful candidate will also take a leadership role in education clinical training and other academic activities within the program. The successful candidate will contribute to program development evaluation and research. You will support capacity building and inter-professional education including clinical supervision of individual and group-based practice offered by other clinicians in the Forensic Service and provide training and supervision to doctoral level psychology students/residents and learners across disciplines. This individual will report to the manager and the Chiefs of the Forensic and Psychology Divisions and will support a workplace that embraces diversity encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable standards and regulatory requirements.

The candidate must be registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) to practice Clinical Psychology with forensic populations. The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in Psychology combined with 3 years clinical experience. The successful candidate will have in depth knowledge of the Criminal Code and the ORB as well as extensive experience conducting risk and strength based assessments and psychological testing for court-ordered assessments (including but not limited to tests related to the assessment of personality characteristics cognition and malingering). Working experience with recognized risk assessment tools such as the PCL-R VRAG HCR-20 and LSI-R is required. The successful candidate will also have extensive experience with empirically supported psychosocial intervention including competence in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for psychosis third-wave behavioural interventions (e.g. and extensive training and experience in motivational interviewing. Research and/or evaluation experience in applied clinical contexts is also an asset and experience working with a forensic mental health patient population is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will also be required to provide training supervision consultation and support capacity-building initiatives. You have the ability for self-directed learning/working while working concurrently on multiple projects. The successful candidate is able to work independently with minimal supervision seeking advice and support when needed. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
