Professional and student staff working across these three pillars collaborate with student organizations and academic and administrative leaders throughout campus to foster inclusive and wholistic learning environments that maximize the potential of each student.
The Health Promoter plays a vital role in advancing student well-being by supporting the development and implementation of the Wellness Academy Peer Leader Program. This role contributes to the mission of the Wellness and Well-being Pillar by empowering student leaders to deliver peer-to-peer wellness education, outreach, and engagement initiatives that reduce barriers to wellness services and foster a culture of holistic well-being across campus.
In addition, the Health Promoter leads the development and delivery of health promotion education and training for Western University student population. This work includes designing inclusive, evidence-informed learning opportunities that build student capacity in areas such as mental health, physical and sexual health, substance use, addictions, and self-care. Through trainings, campaigns, and collaborative initiatives, the Health Promoter fosters a campus environment where students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or Occupational Therapy

Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in a community or post-secondary wellness or health setting

Facilitation & Training: Ability to lead engaging workshops, presentations, and peer training sessions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create accessible and inclusive health promotion content.
Skilled in building relationships and working effectively with students, staff, faculty, and community partners.
Project Management: Ability to manage multiple initiatives, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
Digital Literacy: Proficiency in using digital tools for communication, content creation, and virtual engagement (e.g., Canva, social media, learning platforms).
Health Promotion and Harm Reduction Principles: Strong understanding of population health, health equity, harm reduction and the social determinants of health.
Public Health Topics: Knowledge of key wellness areas including mental health, sexual health, substance use, physical activity, nutrition, and self-care.
Program Planning & Evaluation: Understanding of how to design, implement, and assess health promotion programs using evidence-informed approaches.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI): Awareness of how identity, culture, and systemic barriers impact student health and access to services.
