Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will serve as the reference point for electrical rolling stock and control software. You will oversee technical support for the Rolling Stock Maintenance (RSM) teams responsible for VIA Rail’s legacy fleet, while guiding Technical Services (TS) to ensure:
Regulatory compliance
Selection of optimal materials and processes
Definition and verification of technical requirements
Technical Expertise for Maintenance Teams
Provide advanced support for maintenance and product improvements related to electrical components and control software.
Strategic Advice and Technical Oversight
Supervise specialists and technical advisors, ensuring project alignment with VIA Rail’s objectives.
Monitor the impact of changes to maintenance programs and recommend adjustments.
Quality and Compliance
Approve technical documents related to electrical work and software.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
Act as an ambassador for Technical Services with internal and external stakeholders.
Actively participate in strategic meetings, committees, and planning initiatives.
Innovation and Project Development
Contribute to defining new projects, drafting scopes of work, and conducting design reviews.
Identify and implement initiatives to improve efficiency and reliability of electrical systems.
Ensure project compliance with rail safety standards.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professionalism.
University degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in the rail industry (or similar sector).
- Expertise in electrical components, control software, and related regulations.
- Bilingual (French and English).
