ON - Data Architect/Modeller - Senior
Position: Senior Data Architect/Modeller
Duration: 1 Year assignment (contract)
Client Location: Toronto ( Onsite, 7.25 hours/day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday)
This position is provisionally Onsite requiring 7.25 hours per calendar day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM , Monday to Friday (excluding breaks). The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Intelligence Specialist to review existing data models and redesign operational and analytical reporting products to support current and future ministry needs.
The initial focus will be on the Early Child Development (ECD) program; Work may include modernization of existing reporting solutions, development of new BI products, and enhancements to data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
Review existing data and reporting models; Design, develop, and implement ingestion frameworks from Oracle into Azure Data Lake using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks (PySpark).
Design and document ingestion and CDC pipelines using Oracle GoldenGate and Azure Data Factory.
Updated and newly developed data models, mapping documents, and physical schema scripts.
Low‑level ETL design documents, test cases, and supporting technical documentation.
Fully developed ETL pipelines in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL Warehouse, and related environments.
Performance review and optimization reports for ETL workloads and transformations.
Full load and incremental load testing results, data quality validations, and transformation logic documentation.
3+ years of Power BI development experience, including DAX, data models, visuals, and dashboards.
- Experience with Microsoft BI stack: SSAS, SSRS, SSIS.
- Hands‑on experience with MS SQL Server, on‑prem and Azure environments.
- Experience with data modelling, OLAP, schema design, dimensional modelling, and multi‑dimensional structures.
- Experience building, testing, and deploying complex reports, dashboards, and BI objects.
- Ability to translate wireframes, lo‑fi and hi‑fi prototypes, and business requirements into functioning BI products.
- Ability to perform SQL‑based analysis, data modelling, and complex query development.
- Experience with accessibility standards including AODA and WCAG 2.0 for BI products.
Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and user interaction design.
Familiarity with Oracle GoldenGate or similar CDC tools.
Knowledge of advanced BI prototyping techniques and early‑stage visualization design.
