Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Events, this position is responsible for strategic leadership and oversight for CNC’s marketing functions including marketing for student recruitment alongside Future Student Services in a Strategic Enrolment Management and Marketing (SEMM) framework. Working closely with the College community including Community & Continuing Education, this role oversees the creation and implementation of marketing campaigns, social media, graphic design, student communications, both in support of owned (content) and purchased (advertising) media. The Manager will ensure marketing-related functions are coordinated within the structure and scope of an integrated marketing plan cascading from the College’s Strategic and SEM (Strategic Enrolment Management) Plans; The Manager will support the goals, strategies, and implementation plans specific to marketing activities at CNC, advancing the organization as a best-in-class performer among post-secondary institutions in Canada.
This position will hold a leadership position within Marketing and Events Services and guide the activities of staff in the marketing portfolios as well as lead and maintain the relationships and marketing strategy with the community campuses.
This position plays a critical role in the success of CNC’s SEMM activities, and may chair, co-chair or hold membership in committees. This role will oversee the coordination and planning of marketing and event activities with SEMM-related functions across the College, ensuring marketing campaigns and event plans are reflective of the program, strategies of the College, and recruitment and retention goals.
The Manager oversees a team of professionals working in marketing, communications and graphic design.
Provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction when planning, developing, and implementing CNC’s marketing initiatives.
Recruit, develop, supervise, and mentor staff that support marketing activities.
Develop and implement a robust institutional marketing strategy for domestic, Indigenous, and international markets inline with the College’s SEM plan and enrolment goals with key performance indicators and assessment measures.
Oversee the coordination and execution of all marketing activities ensuring support of the organization’s strategy, including proofing, editing, quality control, brand alignment, and content lifecycles for all digital and print content.
Work closely with deans, associate deans, directors, community campus managers, faculty program coordinators, and recruitment personnel to guide an all-College approach to marketing that supports broader academic program needs throughout an organization-wide marketing structure, which may at times include working within a matrix management model.
Act as the primary marketing contact with community campuses.
Work collaboratively with internal partners who work within Indigenization and International to develop and implement of marketing in support of applicable recruitment strategies and plans.
Work closely with recruitment, institutional research, and admissions to align marketing work with current enrolment and priority programs.
Coordinate the development of service contracts and oversee external agencies responsible for marketing and events strategy, market research, and activities. Contribute to the establishment, review and re-alignment of key performance indicators with respect to marketing activities and audience engagement.
Support best practices in the provision of guidance and recommendations for marketing activities that support student recruitment and retention in a SEMM environment.
Oversee the operational execution of traditional and digital marketing activities for CNC and work with the Director to ensure marketing activities take place within the broader integrated marketing and communications strategy.
Prepare, research, and coordinate the execution of on-going and campaign-based marketing activities in support of the College’s recruitment and retention strategies, including new market exploration.
Lead strategic and operational projects from planning to implementation.
Evaluate creative needs and requests from College departments, and recommend human, financial, and/or consulting resources to effectively meet needs across the organization.
Work with finance and budget officers to manage and maximize budgets for marketing activities.
Co-lead the Applicant & Inquiry SEM Council and serve as a member of other committees as appropriate and directed.
Actively participate in the development and implementation of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) initiative, User Experience (UX) Website Projects, and other digital projects as directed.
Participate in institutional projects relevant to the role of marketing and event services.
Serve as a designate for the Director of Marketing and Events Services as required.
A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as communications, marketing, or business. Graduate education is an asset.
Excellent planning skills: must be able to develop strategic and operational plans for all elements of the portfolio and to develop institutional support for those plans for both domestic and international markets
Experience in and a detailed understanding of creative design, print publications, digital and online marketing as well as analytics.
Proven experience in a SEMM environment is a distinct asset, or similar experience in an environment requiring close coordination between marketing activities and operating areas’ objectives.
Post-secondary experience is an asset.
