Temporary Library Technician

Library Clerk (C) J.Carmichael PS Educational Services1) Qualified permanent ESS/OSSTF Bargaining Unit employees.2) Qualified probationary, temporary and Temporary Hourly Rated (THR) ESS/OSSTF employees.3) Qualified external applicants (includes employees from other Bargaining Units)Reporting to the Principal, and following the "Best Practices and Guidelines" related to library circulation and collection maintenance as outlined by ITS Library and Resource Services, this position is responsible for performing clerical duties in the elementary school library. The library clerk will play an important role in the school in encouraging the love of reading and providing access to resources for learning, and promoting use of resources in print and digital formats.Charging, discharging, shelving and repairing loaned materials;

Assisting staff and students in the use of the library and locating resources using the integrated library system;

Filing and processing new materials, Ministry software, etc; Monitoring library automation hardware and audiovisual equipment and accessories.

Secondary School graduation diploma is required;

At least one years experience in the clerical field required, preferably in a library; THR Library Clerks: Insignia Library Fundamentals basic training and library experience is required;

Enhanced library working knowledge through completion of the following workshop is preferred: Insignia advanced training session which includes library fundamentals, circulation management, search and discover and online library support.

Ability to learn new software applications and adapt to the ever-changing nature of school libraries;
