Design Consultant - Residential Construction

Position Summary
Design Consultants support homeowners through the design and selection process for new residential construction projects. This role coordinates finishes, materials, documentation, procurement, and scheduling to ensure client selections align with project specifications, budgets, and construction timelines. Design Consultants work closely with clients, suppliers, project managers, and construction teams to support the successful delivery of new homes.

Key Responsibilities

· Guide homeowners through design selections, upgrades, and project requirements for new residential construction projects.

· Coordinate finishes, fixtures, materials, and product selections in accordance with community standards, specifications, and client choices.

· Prepare mood boards, selection packages, and presentation materials to communicate design concepts and material options.

· Produce and maintain floor plans, elevations, specifications, and construction-ready documentation for residential projects.

· Track budgets, estimates, change selections, material inventory, and project costs.

· Monitor project schedules and ensure materials and product orders are placed to support residential construction timelines.

· Coordinate with suppliers, trades, project managers, and homeowners to maintain accurate project information and timely decision-making.

· Maintain compliance with applicable building codes, safety requirements, and company standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

· Professional and collaborative approach to working with clients and team members.

· Strong administrative and organizational skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs.

· Ability to interpret and communicate design concepts, layouts, and material selections.

· Knowledge of colours, finishes, materials, and current industry standards.

· Proficiency with design and drafting software relevant to the role.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
