Truck Driver Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Truck Driver to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods;
- Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices and on-board computers;
- Perform light vehicle maintenance;
- Inspects automotive equipment for proper operation;
- Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices;
- Maintain proper records including driver log & vehicle inspections;
- Other duties as assigned;
- Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers;
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance;
- Communicating with dispatcher, drivers and customers professionally and with curtesy;
- Ensuring the proper permits and documentation required for the trip are obtained and valid;
- Administer bills of lading and manually or electronically maintain logbooks;
- Must check in with supervisor at start of break/lunch via phone call;
- Administering bills of lading;
- Other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Flexibility to work nights and weekend as required;
- Must have attention to instructions given;
- Ability to follow instructions;
- An emphasis on safety is critical for all employees;
- Ability to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment;
- Must possess Class 1A Driver’s License;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Experience- Willing to train;
- Valid Class A CDL with Tanker and HazMat endorsements;
- Being polite and courteous on the road as well as with our customers;
- Willing to submit to drug testing, as required, for national or international routes / client contract conditions;
- Having a minimum experience of 2 years as a truck driver;
- Must meet all DOT requirements;
- Proven solid, safety record and stable work history;
- Education: Completion of high school.
