Hoist operators are skilled professionals who operate and maintain hoists, cranes, and other heavy machinery used to lift and move materials on construction sites, in factories, and warehouses. They must be knowledgeable about safety regulations, have an eye for detail, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate hoist equipment to lift and move materials or products to designated areas
- Inspect hoist machinery to ensure safe operation and report any malfunctions or damage to supervisor
- Follow safety procedures and regulations while operating hoist machinery
- Communicate with team members to coordinate material movement and ensure efficient workflow
- Maintain hoist equipment by performing routine maintenance and cleaning tasks
- Record and maintain accurate records of materials moved and hoist equipment usage
- Attend training sessions or meetings to learn about new hoist equipment or procedures
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to hoist operation and material handling
Requirements:
- Possession of a valid hoist operator's license/certification
- Experience operating hoists in construction sites or industrial environments
- Ability to interpret and follow hoisting plans, diagrams, and instructions
- Physical fitness and ability to work in a high-stress environment
- Good communication skills to be able to communicate with other workers on the site, including signalers
- Attention to detail and ability to accurately calculate load weights and hoist capacities
- Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to adhere to them to prevent accidents
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, if required by the project.
