Security Guard Job Description

The Security Guard I periodically patrols related areas examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure that they are properly secured. Responsible for the security and order of buildings, grounds or other work sites. Being a Security Guard I typically reports to a supervisor or manager. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Security Guard I possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.

Our company is looking for a Security Guard to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Prevent and detect shoplifting and theft in retail establishments;
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred;
  • Ensure areas/departments are secure during off hours, as required;
  • Assist in the transportation of bodies to the morgue;
  • Operate security control room equipment;
  • Annually access the training and education on patient, client and personal safety made available by NSHA;
  • Suggest the areas of improvement in providing security services to clients;
  • Commit to maintain and protect patient, client and personal safety on an ongoing basis;
  • Patrol assigned areas;
  • Enforce regulations to maintain order and resolve conflicts and to monitor establishment activities;
  • Perform security checks of passengers and luggage;
  • Other related duties determined by the Facility Support Manager;
  • Conduct duty rounds of the interior of the hospital, school building and hospital grounds;
  • Be available for emergency calls from any department;
  • Liaison with the RCMP, as required. Monitor parking infractions issue parking tickets according to Municipal By-Laws.

Requirements:

  • Bilingual – French and English;
  • Experience is an asset;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Writing;
  • Valid Saskatchewan Security Guard Licence;
  • Driver’s validity licence check;
  • First Aid and CPR training;
  • Are available to work evenings, overnights and weekends as well as during regular business hours;
  • Fire prevention training;
  • Are in good physical health;
  • Canadian Forces (Regular / Reserve) or RCMP service;
  • ASP Construction an asset;
  • Customer service experience and good computer skills;
  • You are at least 18 years of age;
