Fabricators expertly manipulate materials, often metal, to create parts or structures. Responsibilities encompass reading blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, and assembling final products. Precision, technical skills, and safety awareness are paramount.

Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and assemble metal parts and structures according to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components
  • Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes
  • Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers
  • Layout and mark dimensions and reference lines on material, using scribes, dividers, squares, and rulers
  • Inspect and test welds to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
  • Operate hand and power tools, including welding equipment, in a safe and efficient manner
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment, and perform minor repairs when necessary

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fabricating and welding
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Knowledge of different types of welding techniques
  • Ability to use hand and power tools to fabricate parts and assemblies
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions
