A Baker prepares and bakes various breads, pastries, and desserts. They are responsible for ingredients measurements, following recipes, operating bakery equipment, ensuring high standards of sanitation and organization, and producing quality products efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • bake a variety of bread, cakes, pastries, and other baked goods according to recipes and customer demands
  • measure and mix ingredients, using scales and measuring cups, and follow recipes
  • roll, knead, and shape dough to form various types of bread and pastries
  • monitor ovens and adjust temperature and baking times as necessary
  • decorate cakes and pastries using icing, glazes, and other toppings
  • ensure that the bakery is clean and sanitary at all times
  • order and maintain inventory of baking supplies and ingredients

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a baker or pastry chef
  • Knowledge of baking techniques and recipes
  • Familiarity with ingredients and their measurements
  • Ability to operate bakery equipment, ovens, and mixing machines
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately
  • Physical stamina to stand for long hours and lift heavy ingredients
  • Creativity and ability to develop new and innovative baked goods
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to work with other bakers and kitchen staff
