Retail Planning Manager Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Retail Planning Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with purchasing and logistics to ensure optimal inventory flows to store locations;
- Manage item stratification, item lead time, safety stock calculation and other planning variables as required for all stores and international markets;
- Define inventory targets for all Stores/Int. Market locations and ensure high turns;
- Understand the levers that affect inventory and anticipate business spikes related to seasonal trends, marketing and promotion efforts;
- Provide rolling 3-6 months forecasts to Purchasing for short-mid range planning;
- Proactively facilitate forecast and inventory planning meetings with key personnel cross-functionally to ensure business objectives are met;
- Oversee assortment planning for new store openings & international market expansion;
- Manage and influence inventory targets (including safety stock levels) based on changes in demand and market trends;
- Drive improvement in replenishment and planning processes;
- Enhance existing inventory models to improve forecast accuracy and inventory turnover.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of key purchasing and inventory performance metrics proficiency;
- Extreme attention to detail;
- Self-starter who thrives in fast paced environments that requires multi-tasking, prioritization and minimal oversight;
- Experience in Retail or CPG industry is an advantage;
- English, Native or bilingual proficiency;
- Post -Secondary Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related accreditations;
- Quantitative and analytical skills (extensive spreadsheet analysis and strong mathematical abilities);
- Ability to continuously improve processes and train team;
- Proficiency to lead & influence cross-functionally;
- Proficiency to communicate findings, make recommendations and facilitate change;
- 4 – 6 years of relevant experience in planning, demand forecasting, inventory management or comparable roles;
- Someone able to anticipate risks and propose practical plans to diffuse them;
- Proven ability to lead through motivating and coaching your team members and influence peers;
- Broad range of computer skills: database, spreadsheet, statistics applications and software (MS Office), MRP systems;
- Effective communication to the executive level.
