The security system technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing security systems such as alarms, cameras, and access control systems. They should have knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, as well as programming and troubleshooting skills. A background in security and surveillance is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain security systems including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection and fire alarm systems
  • Ensure all security systems are functioning properly and are in compliance with local codes and regulations
  • Conduct regular maintenance and testing of security systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to security systems and escalate complex problems to management
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of all security system installations, upgrades and repairs
  • Provide training to users on security system operations and maintenance
  • Stay current with industry trends and advances in security technology to provide recommendations on system upgrades and enhancements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security systems are integrated with other building systems and processes

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of security systems and equipment installation, maintenance, and repair
  • Experience with CCTV, alarms, access control, and other security systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Knowledge of local and national safety codes and regulations
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Physically fit and able to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and be on-call for emergency situations.
