Our company is looking for a Program Support Instructor to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to the S.R.M Day Camp Swim Instructors, for daily swimming lessons;
  • Daily program development/maintenance time (1 hour) as needed;
  • Wednesday cabin coverage to facilitate counsellor evening off;
  • Preparation of alternative “Rainy Day” programs;
  • Additional classes and supervision as required;
  • Saturday- Swim/First Aid Instruction for LITs;
  • Sunday Camper Registration (work brigades, registration, program demonstrations);
  • Attend weekly all staff and staff team meetings (Sunday- Program Staff, Thursday- All-Staff) or as scheduled;
  • Evening activity instruction (Monday, Tuesday) (1 Hour);
  • Provide supervision for any additional waterfront programming;
  • Thursday- compose detailed camper evaluations (for any program instructional classes assigned throughout the week);
  • Provide daily supervision and lifeguarding for free swim periods and sections activities;
  • Provide instruction and supervision for HOC’s Staff Development swim programs, including Emergency First Aid Instruction for LITs;
  • The dynamic nature of summer camp demands each staff understand that additional duties may be assigned as required;
  • All Program staff are required to attend the May program development weekend.

Requirements:

  • Genuine interest in working with children in the camp community;
  • Lifeguarding experience required;
  • A minimum of 18 years of age;
  • Water Safety Instructors certification;
  • Must be an enthusiastic, energetic and positive person;
  • NLS certification;
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR certification;
  • Experience teaching and communicating with children of varied ages. Specific camp program experience an asset;
  • Must be willing to take part in camp related activities outside the defined job description.
