Our company is looking for a Overnight Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Dispense medication to clients;
  • Respond to distressed clients in a non-threatening manner and attempt to understand the source of distress;
  • Medication inventory and reporting;
  • Provide overnight medical care for clients, some who may be in the early stages of drug and alcohol detoxification;
  • Care for clients experiencing mental distress as part of a medical and support staff team;
  • Ensure the correct administration of medication, including injections, and monitor the results of treatment;
  • Apply ‘de-escalation’ techniques to help people manage their emotions and behaviour;
  • Assess capacity and obtain informed consent and, where clients lack capacity to consent, have the ability to work within a legal and ethical framework;
  • Charting on each client;
  • Ensure that the legal requirements appropriate to a particular setting or group of clients are observed;
  • Promote a ‘recovery’ based approach to care.

Requirements:

  • Exceptionally reliable;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training;
  • Basic computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office);
  • LPN diploma with at least 1 year of experience;
  • Ability to pass a criminal records check;
  • Valid Class 4 unrestricted license;
  • Detail/Task oriented to ensure that all procedures are followed;
  • Practical knowledge of a alcohol/drug based 12 step program.
