Overnight Licensed Practical Nurse Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Overnight Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Dispense medication to clients;
- Respond to distressed clients in a non-threatening manner and attempt to understand the source of distress;
- Medication inventory and reporting;
- Provide overnight medical care for clients, some who may be in the early stages of drug and alcohol detoxification;
- Care for clients experiencing mental distress as part of a medical and support staff team;
- Ensure the correct administration of medication, including injections, and monitor the results of treatment;
- Apply ‘de-escalation’ techniques to help people manage their emotions and behaviour;
- Assess capacity and obtain informed consent and, where clients lack capacity to consent, have the ability to work within a legal and ethical framework;
- Charting on each client;
- Ensure that the legal requirements appropriate to a particular setting or group of clients are observed;
- Promote a ‘recovery’ based approach to care.
Requirements:
- Exceptionally reliable;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training;
- Basic computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office);
- LPN diploma with at least 1 year of experience;
- Ability to pass a criminal records check;
- Valid Class 4 unrestricted license;
- Detail/Task oriented to ensure that all procedures are followed;
- Practical knowledge of a alcohol/drug based 12 step program.
