Our company is looking for a Community Wellbeing Nurse (Family Health) to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development and evaluation of education materials and provide support to health promotion activities for Raising our Children;
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing programs and community-wide based initiatives using the current knowledge of practices and trends;
  • Identify health issues and needs relevant to First Nation communities and participate in population level health planning.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and foster relationships with stakeholders within SLFNHA and the communities;
  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
  • Knowledge of, and/or experience in vaccine preventable diseases;
  • International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant or working towards certification would be an asset;
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing BScN from an accredited University with identifiable community health nursing content and CPR certification;
  • Experience working with at-risk families with superb conflict management skills;
  • Keen understanding and sensitivity to Indigenous customs and cultures including speaking Sioux Lookout dialects;
  • Experience in breastfeeding support;
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, Maternal-Newborn Health and Reproductive Health and Child programs;
  • Experience in public/community health nursing, program planning, implementation and evaluation.
