Assistant cooks support the main chef in food preparation, as well as kitchen maintenance. Responsible for chopping, peeling, and cleaning cooking equipment, they undertake a variety of tasks under supervision to ensure smooth culinary operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist head chef in preparing meals
  • Follow recipes and cooking instructions provided by the head chef
  • Ensure that ingredients are properly cleaned, stored and used in a timely manner
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Monitor food supplies and notify head chef when inventory is running low
  • Assist with food presentation and plating
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines at all times
  • Report any issues or concerns to the head chef immediately

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an assistant cook or similar role
  • Knowledge of various cooking techniques and methods
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Physical endurance to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions from the head chef or senior staff
