Part-time Library Services Assistant Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Part-time Library Services Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Accurate and timely reshelving of materials and shelf-reading;
- Assist with basic Circulation, room bookings and basic computer help duties as needed (primarily on weekends or evenings);
- Assist with opening/closing the library facility;
- Retrieve materials on request;
- Assist with clerical work such as scanning and filing.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Computer literate and detail oriented;
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills;
- High School Diploma and working towards the completion of a Library Technician Diploma or related Post-Secondary Diploma;
- Minimum of 6 months circulation experience or equivalent, preferably in a library setting;
- Minimum of 6 months providing customer service in a busy retail, library, or similar environment;
- Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently;
- Experience with the Library of Congress classification system or equivalent for accurate shelving/shelf-reading of resources;
- Familiarity with integrated library systems is considered an asset;
- Will involve evening and weekend shifts.
