Our company is looking for a Part-time Library Services Assistant to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurate and timely reshelving of materials and shelf-reading;
  • Assist with basic Circulation, room bookings and basic computer help duties as needed (primarily on weekends or evenings);
  • Assist with opening/closing the library facility;
  • Retrieve materials on request;
  • Assist with clerical work such as scanning and filing.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Computer literate and detail oriented;
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills;
  • High School Diploma and working towards the completion of a Library Technician Diploma or related Post-Secondary Diploma;
  • Minimum of 6 months circulation experience or equivalent, preferably in a library setting;
  • Minimum of 6 months providing customer service in a busy retail, library, or similar environment;
  • Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently;
  • Experience with the Library of Congress classification system or equivalent for accurate shelving/shelf-reading of resources;
  • Familiarity with integrated library systems is considered an asset;
  • Will involve evening and weekend shifts.
