Early Childhood Educator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Early Childhood Educator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Implementing small group activities;
- Modeling these techniques for student teachers;
- Observing and evaluating the student’s interactions with children;
- Redirecting a child’s inappropriate behavior;
- Supervising a children’s playroom;
- Applying first aid treatment and notifying the parents of the injury depending on its severity;
- Lead children through a 1 or 2 hour lesson plan that may be academic, social/emotional or private school preparation;
- Assess students on an ongoing basis to ensure that all the child’s learning needs are met;
- Plan and implement enriched programs in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy;
- Work integrally with the company to improve KEY’s curriculums;
- Provide training and act as a role model for students and new team members;
- Maintain a close relationship with families and their children to promote a sense of family and exceptional customer service.
Requirements:
- Strong planning, organizational, leadership and communication skills;
- Assets;
- Good time management and organization skills;
- First Aid Certificate;
- Proof of Current First Aid Certification;
- Training in the use of Environmental Assessment Tools are considered assets;
- Ability to apply the principles of child development and positive behavior;
- Passion for constant learning in partnership with children, families and colleagues;
- Proof of ECE Classification Level;
- Two-year Diploma in Early Childhood Education;
- A member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario;
- Passion for ongoing professional development and growth;
- Working experience in a licensed child care setting, preferably one that has Early Childhood Education students placed in it;
- BC Childcare License (ECE) and/or a Bachelors of Education degree;
- Creative and flexible; able to participate in solving problems.
