Framers construct the skeletal structure of buildings, primarily using wood or metal. Responsibilities include measuring, cutting, and assembling the structural elements, ensuring accuracy and stability in line with architectural plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints or sketches to determine specifications and materials needed for the job.
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
  • Cut and shape materials to fit specifications using hand and power tools.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders as necessary for the job.
  • Assemble and install floor joists, subflooring, and walls.
  • Install windows, doors, and stairs.
  • Inspect and repair damaged frameworks or other structures and fixtures.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project completion according to specifications and timelines.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics accurately
  • Experience in using hand and power tools such as saws, hammers, and drills
  • Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials and equipment
  • Knowledge of different types of woods and their properties
  • Understanding of safety regulations and ability to work in a safe manner
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good communication skills to be able to understand instructions and communicate with colleagues and clients
