Concrete Finishers shape, smooth, and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. They align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints.

Responsibilities:

  • Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; use saws to cut expansion joints.
  • Monitor concrete curing and drying process to ensure surfaces are properly finished and hardened.
  • Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surfaces, remove rough or defective spots, and prepare surfaces for final finishing.
  • Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete or pattern or stamp the surface to provide a decorative finish.

Requirements:

  • Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of the job
  • Experience in reading blueprints and specifications
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools for concrete finishing
  • Knowledge of concrete mixing ratios and curing methods
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions
  • Good communication skills to work with supervisors and other team members
