A Youth Counselor provides guidance and support to young individuals navigating emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. They are responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating individual or group counseling sessions to address specific concerns and promote their well-being. They may also collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to youth development.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement effective programs and activities that promote personal, social, and emotional development of youth
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth, their families, and other stakeholders
  • Provide guidance, counseling, and support to youth dealing with personal, social, and emotional issues
  • Facilitate group discussions and activities that address various issues impacting youth
  • Maintain accurate records and document the progress of each youth
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to remain current on best practices and techniques related to youth counseling

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to develop and implement effective youth programs
  • Knowledge of counseling techniques and experience providing guidance and support
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and other community organizations
  • Understanding of cultural diversity and ability to work with diverse groups of young people
