A Mechanical Estimator calculates the projected costs of mechanical construction projects. Responsibilities include analyzing blueprints, assessing material requirements, and estimating labor costs to provide accurate project quotes.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing mechanical takeoffs from drawings and specifications to accurately estimate project costs
  • Preparing and submitting detailed bids and proposals for mechanical projects
  • Closely communicating with project managers and engineers to ensure accurate project estimates and timelines
  • Researching and sourcing materials and equipment, and negotiating prices with vendors and suppliers
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients, vendors, and contractors
  • Assessing and analyzing project risks and providing recommendations for risk mitigation
  • Reviewing and interpreting project contracts and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Providing support and guidance to junior estimators and team members

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical estimating
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
