A Mechanical Estimator calculates the projected costs of mechanical construction projects. Responsibilities include analyzing blueprints, assessing material requirements, and estimating labor costs to provide accurate project quotes.
Responsibilities:
- Performing mechanical takeoffs from drawings and specifications to accurately estimate project costs
- Preparing and submitting detailed bids and proposals for mechanical projects
- Closely communicating with project managers and engineers to ensure accurate project estimates and timelines
- Researching and sourcing materials and equipment, and negotiating prices with vendors and suppliers
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clients, vendors, and contractors
- Assessing and analyzing project risks and providing recommendations for risk mitigation
- Reviewing and interpreting project contracts and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Providing support and guidance to junior estimators and team members
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical estimating
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
