Dairy and Specialty Food Buyer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Dairy and Specialty Food Buyer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure orders for dairy are timely and accurate to monitor inventory turns;
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-organized working and shopping environment;
- Maintain financial profitability by meeting and exceeding margin and sales targets;
- Assist in training and developing staff on product knowledge;
- Replenish dairy products through proper buying procedures with our approved vendors;
- Ensure that product mix meets varied customer dietary needs and requests;
- Maintain accurate department signage and pricing;
- Monitors spoilage and supply waste to minimize impact on deli’s expenses;
- Communicate with vendors/suppliers to negotiate pricing, discounts, terms and transportation arrangements.
Requirements:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Completion of secondary school is a must,
- Must be able to speak basic English to communicate with other staff members;
- Ability to multitask and prioritize;
- Must be able to work independently and be detail oriented with ability to demonstrate problem solving skill sets;
- Responsive and reliable;
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a food service/food retail/food supplier/food distribution environment, preferably dairy.
