VFX Editor Job Description Template

Our company is looking for a VFX Editor to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • General production support;
  • Organize directories and files in a logical and organized manner, adhering to established protocols;
  • Ability to remain focused for extended periods of time on detail-oriented tasks;
  • Assist in setting up new projects ensuring editorial and colour formats of the pipeline are in place;
  • Work closely with VFX editorial and production staff to ensure edits are up to date and all the latest VFX versions included;
  • Liaise with production editorial to maintain parity on VFX sequences;
  • Manage internal edits of film sequences and shots;
  • Review updated edits and spot for continuity issues or changes to Visual Effects shots;
  • Operate Davinci Resolve and other editing software during Visual Effects reviews;
  • Assist in setting up new projects ensuring editorial formats of the pipeline are in place;
  • Additional Specific duties to be determined on a project by project basis;
  • Oversee ingestion and processing of incoming client material;
  • Support for delivery of visual effects shots, including but not limited to creating Quicktimes, digital file wrangling, and delivery dockets;
  • Create in-house reels including annual company reels, show reels, technical breakdowns, and awards reels;
  • Deliver completed work to clients or other facilities.

Requirements:

  • Manage multiple projects and work efficiently with tight deadlines in a professional manner;
  • You should be a great communicator and a team player;
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems effectively;
  • Exercise independent decision making and creative judgment in the development of projects;
  • Advanced knowledge of Davinci Resolve or other editing software;
  • Nice to haves: Previous experience working in dailies would be an advantage;
  • Experience using an asset manager like Shotgun is an advantage;
  • Minimum one year of editing experience with online or offline editorial;
  • A passion for film editing, and a keen eye.
