Deli Lead

Job Responsibility:

The Kootenay Co-op is looking for a Deli Lead who is passionate about cheese, olives, and fine foods to join our Deli department! This position will be 32-40 hours per week, weekend availability is required.

SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONSThe Deli Lead must have and continue to develop skills in the following areas

• FoodSafe certification
• Experience and/or professional training in the food/retail industry
• Organization, preparation and storage of all Deli department products
• Technical expertise in the operation of relevant equipment and machinery
• Demoing and merchandising product
• Knowledge of whole, natural, and organic foods and the impact consumer choices have on local farmers, producers, and communities.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to develop and maintain favorable relations with customers, staff, and vendors.
• Cooperative, respectful communication skills
• General product knowledge, such as location of items or categories within the store
• Basic knowledge of how to navigate SMS and how to print shelf tags

DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

• Excellent knowledge of products carried in the department, offering general assistance to customers
• Ensure that all sections of the department are more than adequately stocked and faced at all times
• Maintain cleanliness standards as required by the Public Health Regulations and the Deli Manager
• Inform manager of updates to product info and price changes as required
• Work independently to coordinate the flow of inventory
• Assist with product selection
• Collaborate with Deli Manager in planning, set up, and organization of displays
• Make decisions on applying discount/ clearance stickers according to inventory levels and expiry dates
• Notify manager of shorts or excess stock to coordinate with weekly orders
• Go over spill/spoil and record
• Coordinate staff in the absence of the Deli Manager
• Collaborate in department procedures to ensure continued efficacy
• Assist Deli Manager with staff training as required
• Must be available to work morning, afternoon and weekends shifts
• Physical receiving of deliveries and proper handling of invoices

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $19.00-$22.50 per hour
