Electrical Engineer (Contract)

Trans Mountain Corporation’s Oil Products Division is seeking a Contract Electrical Engineer to support facility maintenance and repair projects, asset integrity assignments, and assessments of facility assets. The position is headquartered in Calgary and requires expertise in high‑ and low‑voltage power systems and/or control and instrumentation. Key Responsibilities Assist in identifying, developing, and initiating sustaining capital projects, including preparation of project specifications, initial cost estimates, and schedules. Provide project management services, including managing third‑party engineering firms, reviewing drawings, permitting, conducting job hazard analyses, tracking cost and schedule, serving as construction liaison, and supporting commissioning and start‑up. Assist with the development of standards, procedures, and controlled documents to continuously improve the capital projects management program. Provide electrical engineering technical support to operations and other stakeholders such as project managers. Support Capital Projects Program compliance by preparing for and attending field inspections, responding to information requests, and implementing corrective or preventive actions (CAPAs). Qualifications and Professional Experience Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university recognized by the Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA) and/or Engineering and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC). Project Management Professional (PMP) designation from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is an asset, or the candidate should be pursuing this designation. At least three years of progressive experience in electrical engineering. Pipeline engineering and operational experience preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in high‑ and low‑voltage power systems and/or control and instrumentation. Track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders across the organization. Excellent organizational skills, capable of managing priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment. Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative workplace culture. Working Conditions Willingness and ability to travel as required. Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license. May be required to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on weekends.
