Vice Principal, Curriculum and Innovation
School District 57 is seeking visionary, collaborative, and student‑centered leaders to join our Principal and Vice Principal Pool over the next 12 months.
Responsibilities
Curriculum and Leadership
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Ministry of Education K‑12 curriculum and the Graduation Program and implementation of the current learning theory as related to instruction and assessment
- Lead the alignment of instructional practices with district and Ministry priorities
- Use student learning data to guide planning, monitor progress, and support continuous improvement
- Ensure coherence and consistency in instructional practices across schools
- Support effective use of MyEducation BC (MyEd BC) for data management, reporting, and system coordination
Literacy, Numeracy, and Career Education Leadership
- Lead the implementation of evidence‑based literacy and numeracy practices
- Support the use of assessment data and screening tools to inform targeted instruction and intervention
- Guide the development and implementation of district‑wide numeracy initiatives
- Advance Career Education (K–12) by supporting experiential learning and meaningful connections to post‑secondary pathways, careers, and community contexts
Professional Learning and Instructional Leadership
- Design and facilitate high‑quality professional learning in assessment and instructional practices, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Indigenous perspectives and ways of knowing, and technology‑enhanced learning
- Build educator capacity through coaching, mentorship, and collaborative inquiry
- Support leadership development in Principals and Vice Principals to advance equity‑focused practices
- Foster inclusive, safe, and caring learning environments grounded in positive relationships and supports
- Demonstrate culturally responsive leadership, particularly in support of Indigenous learners
- Promote a shared vision that enhances student engagement, well‑being, and achievement
- Engage effectively with students, staff, families, and community partners
- Align human, financial, and curricular resources with district and school priorities
- Model effective instructional practices and support high‑quality teaching
- Lead strategic planning and school improvement efforts
- Support staff growth through supervision, coaching, and professional development
- Use data to evaluate progress and refine strategies
Qualifications
- Holds a British Columbia Teacher Regulation Branch certification
- A Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or a related field
- Minimum five years of successful teaching experience and demonstrated school leadership experience
- Demonstrated leadership in curriculum, assessment, and school improvement
- Exceptional collaboration skills to enhance student achievement through engagement with students, staff, parents, and community organizations
- The ability to foster strong employee relations and effective management practices within a dynamic educational and unionized environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Self‑awareness and commitment to personal growth
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and continuous learning
Benefits
The annual pay range for Vice Principals in 2025 is $142,993 to $150,652. Additional benefits include competitive salary, benefits, pension, and professional development opportunities.
