Electrical EIT

Key Responsibilities

• Perform electrical design activities for heavy industrial Oil and Gas projects.

• Contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality electrical engineering packages as part of a multidisciplinary electrical team.

• Work directly and professionally with clients and other engineering disciplines to coordinate project requirements and deliverables.

• Independently manage assigned tasks and responsibilities while meeting project schedules, quality standards, and established procedures.

• Provide technical and project support to senior engineers on existing and upcoming electrical projects.

• Travel to project and field locations periodically, as required by project needs.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Access.

• Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Basic understanding of electrical design principles and practices for industrial applications, including:

  • Electrical load calculations

  • Cable sizing

  • Power distribution

  • Heat tracing

  • Modular design

  • Electrical equipment specifications

  • Area classification

  • Power system studies

  • Instrumentation

  • Control philosophies

• Basic understanding of the electrical deliverables, documentation, and calculations required to complete electrical designs for Oil and Gas projects.

• Demonstrated experience with electrical systems and design for voltages up to 600 V is required.

• Experience with medium- and high-voltage electrical applications is considered an asset.

• Experience using AutoCAD is considered an asset.

• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, follow established instructions and procedures, adapt to new challenges, and actively pursue professional growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the Canadian Oil and Gas industry.

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.

• Must be registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with APEGA.
