The District of Oak Bay is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Health & Safety Associate to join our Human Resources team and gain valuable hands-on experience supporting health and safety initiatives across a diverse municipal workforce. The Occupational Health & Safety Associate supports the delivery and continuous improvement of the District's occupational health and safety programs. This developmental role provides exposure to workplace inspections, safety audits, incident investigations, training coordination, risk assessments, COR certification activities, health and safety committee support, and regulatory compliance initiatives. Working alongside employees, supervisors, and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees, you will play an important role in promoting a positive safety culture while building practical experience in a local government setting. Our ideal candidate is a recent graduate or student nearing completion of an Occupational Health and Safety program, with at least one year of post-secondary OHS education. They possess a strong interest in workplace health and safety, enjoy building positive relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, and can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. They are committed to promoting safe and healthy workplaces and are eager to develop their skills in a municipal environment. While full-time availability is preferred, the District is willing to consider flexible or part-time scheduling for exceptional candidates who are actively completing an Occupational Health and Safety program.
