Lead Full Stack Java Developer - Vice President

The Lead Full Stack Java Developer – is a senior level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead application systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities

• Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals and identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements.
• Resolve a variety of high impact problems/projects through in‑depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards.
• Provide expertise in applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint.
• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals.
• Provide in‑depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions.
• Serve as advisor or coach to mid‑level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Recommended Qualifications

• 6+ years of proven software development experience, specializing in Java, JavaScript frameworks such as React, Spring Boot, and Oracle.
• In‑depth knowledge of modern application architecture principles.
• Clear understanding of data structures and object‑oriented principles using Java.
• Practical experience with AI tools for enhancing development workflows.
• Proficiency in micro‑services frameworks such as Spring Boot.
• Experience with event‑driven services and cloud‑native application development.
• Multiple years of experience on service‑oriented and micro‑services architectures, including REST and GraphQL implementations.
• Full‑stack proficiency: design, develop, and maintain both front‑end and back‑end components of robust web applications.
• Front‑end development expertise using JavaScript frameworks such as React, HTML5, and CSS.
• Back‑end development experience using Java, Python or similar languages.
• Database expertise: comprehensive knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL, deep understanding of RDBMS particularly Oracle.
• API development experience designing, developing, and implementing high‑performance RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Maven, Gradle, Docker, Jenkins and OpenShift.
• Experience with AWS is an advantage.
• Agile methodology experience using JIRA.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.
