Become a vital part of the Saint John community as a Resettlement Assistance Program Counsellor. In this full-time, interim position, you will support government-assisted refugees in their critical early weeks in Canada. Your role involves welcoming clients, assessing needs, and providing essential services such as accommodation arrangements. By fostering relationships and collaborating with local organizations, you will enhance integration efforts and raise community awareness about refugee challenges. Your compassionate approach will make a real difference in the lives of newcomers. Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome refugees and assist in temporary accommodations
- Collaborate with health services for post-arrival assessments
- Facilitate workshops on Canadian cultural norms
- Utilize the iCARE system for daily reporting
- Engage with community groups to develop support networks
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant education
- 3+ years of experience working with diverse populations
- Excellent English communication skills
- Willingness to adapt to flexible working hours
- Valid driver’s license and transportation options
