Women in Asset Management (WAM) is designed to overcome the important issue of underrepresentation of individuals who self-identify as women in asset management in Canada. WAM is a course and summer internship program that launched in May of 2022, for second year undergraduate students at any Canadian University who self-identify as women and are interested in learning more about asset management. The program includes a four-week classroom experience followed by a 10–12-week paid internship at a Canadian asset management firm (banks, pension funds, hedge funds, etc.). We are happy to be growing the program and accepting a select number of students from any Canadian university.

Position Overview:

The Senior Program Officer, Women in Asset Management is a big picture thinker who not only enjoys seeing a project through from start to finish, but also how to work with different internal and external stakeholders to achieve a shared goal. This passion drives them in leading the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of custom academic programming aimed at positively impacting the under-representation of key demographic groups within targeted industries/careers. They are keen on playing an integral role in helping to build a pipeline of talent for key sectors in Canada by supporting students across Ivey/Western (and beyond) develop and fine-tune their career strategy through delivery of comprehensive programming that includes coaching and mentoring. The individual is a strategic collaborator, working to deepen their understanding of trends, best practices, career paths, etc. found within the targeted industries.

Responsibilities:

Partnership Management

• Support the Advisory Council consisting of Ivey leadership, faculty, and corporate sponsors.
• Engage with target faculties at Western University for promoting the program to their students, notably in Arts and Humanities; Engineering; Health Sciences; Information and Media Studies; Science; and Social Science.
• Build and maintain strong internal relationships and rapport with Career Management (CM) Department, Alumni Relations, Advancement, and Marketing & Communications.
• Collaborate with Advancement and CM to elicit corporate partner support for fundable opportunities with the goal of offsetting costs of program delivery.
• Serve as the primary interface with corporate sponsors, building and maintaining credible, value-added relationships with them and potential new corporate sponsors.
• Lead corporate partners in all aspects of the programming, participation in student networking and mentorship opportunities, and recruitment of students for summer internships.
• Collect and archive information related to internship needs of the individual partners and analyze to provide optimal matches for future internships.
• Manage annual stewardship report content to provide to the Advancement team to report back to corporate sponsors.
• Working with the Program Directors to develop and execute a strategic operations plan pertaining to letter of agreement for corporate sponsors, from welcoming them to the program through to the end of the sponsorship term.
• Ongoing, manage relationships with corporate sponsors.
• Compile sponsor specific data using qualitative and quantitative analysis of student experience feedback (i.e., midpoint internship survey, midpoint internship meetings with students and with supervisors and end of internship evaluations from students and supervisors) to present fact-based, internship experience summaries.
• Collaborate with Canadian universities, business schools, and student investment clubs to promote the WAM program to students outside of the Western University community and develop and execute a plan for those students to apply and be assessed for the program.
• Actively engage with professional associations and organizations aligned with the WAM program to broaden the awareness of the program in the industry.

Program Planning and Logistics

• Work with the WAM Program Director and Ivey's Chief Financial Officer to develop a financial model for facilities and programming for the Women in Asset Management program.
• In consultation with Program Directors, create and manage an annual operating budget.
• Manage and track all expenses associated with custom program budgets.
• In consultation with WAM Program Director, design and implement the application process and update as required.
• Strategize with Marketing and Communications to develop and execute marketing campaigns to increase visibility of the program and generate enrollment, including website maintenance.
• Develop and lead the process and tools needed to match the needs of corporate sponsors to the needs of students as expressed through surveys for the internship portion of the program.
• Communicate with and onboard affiliate universities to expand the program to university students outside of the Western community.
• Strategize and manage the logistics of obtaining applications and associated information from students outside of Western.
• Assist in developing a strategic communication plan with WAM alumni to keep them engaged in the industry as they approach graduation.
• Plan, organization and execute WAM Alumni events (2-3 per year) with the focus of creating a strong alumni network and providing the opportunity for continual professional development within the asset management industry.

Recruiting & Admissions Activities

• Lead recruitment process including assessment and scoring overall fit for the program to make recommendations for admission to the WAM Program Director, based on identified competencies.
• Implement processes and strategies to attract a strong cohort for the WAM program.

Program Development, Delivery & Evaluation

• In consultation with WAM Program Director, define targets, goals, and plans for the development of the program, year after year based on the expressed needs of corporate sponsors.
• Manage all operational aspects of the WAM program including but not limited to scheduling of events, sourcing and deciding upon 3 rd party facilities for events, managing last minute scheduling conflicts of speakers, etc.
• Serve as primary support for students from before the application process through to the completion of the program.
• Engage third party vendors and other content specialists to support curriculum (Bloomberg, industry/professional associations, etc.).
• Create and maintain the program's learning management system (CANVAS/LEARN) page to ensure students are receiving and accessing program materials.
• Liaise with the Director, Culture and Inclusion, to ensure that Ivey's principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are reflected in the programming and delivery of programs.
• Engage with Ivey's Information Technology (IT) department to create an application form that is integrated to Salesforce to capture applicant data that can be leveraged for other Ivey programs.
• Maintain participant data in Salesforce to ensure accurate records are kept.
• Coordinate program materials with faculty and industry experts.
• During program delivery, triage issues as they arise, in a professional and calm manner, ensuring the continued smooth running of the program.
• Work with Program Directors to develop and execute a program evaluation plan that includes designing questionnaires, analyzing feedback, and drawing insights to understand the effectiveness of programs and inform future programming.
• Coordinate the processing of faculty compensation and payout with Finance.
• Analyze and interpret the qualitative and quantitative feedback collected through various student surveys and discovery conversations/meetings in order to make strategic recommendations and assessments for future programming to ensure that our students are prepared, show well in the market and ultimately, influence school's overall reputation as evidenced in attaining new partners.
• Implement project management principles to ensure that program initiatives proceed on-time, on-budget, and on-delivery to achieve key milestones and deliverables.
• In conjunction with other external facing departments within Ivey (i.e., Advancement, Alumni Relations, HBA, MBA, Ivey Academy) determine opportunities for synergies through enhanced and continuous communications to develop current alumni and corporate relationships as a basis for future partnerships.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• You've successfully completed a bachelor's degree; course work in Adult Education would be considered an asset.
• 3 – 4 years of experience in project management and planning.
• Experience in a Human Resources, Coaching, or Executive Search/Recruitment role is considered an asset.
• Experience in corporate recruitment and/or training & development is considered an asset.
