Senior Land Development Engineer / Project Manager (Kingston)

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee staff support, workload planning, mentoring, training, and communication with all direct reports.
  • Complete engineering design for diverse projects, focusing on storm and sanitary services, water main, lot/site grading and drainage, stormwater management, and utility coordination.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry professionals, consultants, and other business leaders.
  • Assist with the organic growth of the Land Development group by adding key hires, acquiring new clients, and pursuing potential opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for engineering interns and technologists, guiding more junior staff.
  • Prepare technical specifications and reports.
  • Liaise with clients, government and regulatory bodies, as well as contractors.
  • Maintain positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate facilitation and completion of work in partnership with clients and other staff/divisions.
  • Prepare engineering services proposals.
  • Monitor industry standards and developments, assess client needs, and make concrete decisions on proposed solutions.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a university degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 10+ years of design experience on land development projects.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • Design skills with good working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil3D.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French an asset).
  • Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving, time management, and creative thinking.
  • Sound understanding of the land development process.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
  • Experience with project management and familiarity with the consulting engineering environment.
  • Working knowledge of modelling software such as PCSWMM, HEC‑RAS, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, EPANET, etc.
  • Valid driver’s licence with access to a vehicle that has valid registration and insurance.
