Senior Program/Project Manager - Buildings (Mississauga)

Key Responsibilities Provide leadership across a portfolio of major, multidisciplinary projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives, project requirements, and business performance targets.
Serve as a senior advisor to project teams and leadership, supporting decision‑making related to delivery strategy, commercial considerations, and risk management across complex programs.
Accountable for achieving project scope, schedule, budget, and contractual obligations on large‑scale projects, ensuring consistent and successful delivery outcomes.
Lead and support integrated teams across architecture, engineering, and project controls functions to deliver coordinated and high‑quality project execution.
Collaborate with Regional Major Projects Leads, project teams, and corporate partners (risk management, legal, finance, insurance) to support contract requirements, manage project risks, and resolve complex issues.
Oversee development and review of major project proposals, including scope definition, fee development, delivery approach, and commercial considerations.
Participate in project governance activities, including contributing to project reviews and supporting effective oversight of major project performance.
Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and a clear understanding of client needs and expectations.
Facilitate coordination with key stakeholders including clients, contractors, and sub‑consultants to support aligned and successful project delivery.
Monitor project performance and support teams in addressing challenges related to cost, schedule, quality, and risk.
Manage financial and operational aspects of projects, including monitoring project financials, managing budgets, revenue recognition, invoicing, and collections, and translating data into insights to support informed decision‑making and overall project performance.
Identify and share lessons learned, contributing to the continuous improvement of project delivery practices.
Mentor and support the development of project team members, providing guidance and sharing experience across major project teams.
Your Capabilities and Credentials Extensive experience managing large, complex projects with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and overall performance.
Strong understanding of project delivery models, including Design‑Build, P3, IPD, and other collaborative delivery approaches.
Demonstrated experience in contract administration, commercial management, and supporting resolution of project‑related challenges.
Ability to provide guidance and support to multidisciplinary project teams across complex, high‑value projects.
Knowledge of project controls, including cost management, scheduling, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
Demonstrated leadership capability with experience working across large, integrated project teams.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, project teams, and internal stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to support decision‑making in complex project environments.
Well‑developed organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively across teams, regions, and disciplines.
Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
Security clearance eligibility is a must for this position.
Candidate must be open to a security clearance check and must have 10 years traceable residency in Canada.
Education and Experience Bachelor’s or advanced degree in project management, architecture, or engineering.
Minimum of 15 years experience managing large‑scale complex projects.
Minimum of 7 years experience as a program/project manager with an architectural‑engineering firm is preferred.
Professional designation and/or PMP preferred.
LEED Green Associate or LEED AP a plus.
Compensation & Benefits Pay Range: Locations in Lower Mainland – BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario – $180,400 – $230,400.
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec, certain roles are bonus eligible.
