HR Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a HR Specialist based in Canada. This role offers the opportunity to support HR operations within a fast-growing, globally distributed SaaS environment. You will serve as a Canadian HR subject-matter expert across employee lifecycle events, compliance, payroll, benefits, and employment practices. The position combines hands-on HR support with client-facing responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration. You will help resolve complex employee and customer matters while ensuring local regulatory requirements are met. The role also provides opportunities to improve HR workflows through automation, AI-enabled tools, and process optimization. You will work independently while partnering with teams and service providers across multiple countries and time zones. This is a 1-year fixed-term contract with an expectation of immediate availability. \n Accountabilities - Act as the Canadian HR expert for employee lifecycle processes, employment matters, benefits, payroll, and local compliance requirements. - Provide senior-level guidance to customers on Canadian employment practices, legislation, benefits, payroll, and other country-specific HR matters. - Manage relationships with Canadian payroll providers, benefits brokers, HR advisers, and other external partners. - Support customer acquisition and long-term customer relationships by providing practical, locally relevant HR guidance. - Manage offboarding and termination processes while ensuring compliance with applicable Canadian employment laws. - Handle ongoing customer and professional HR matters, coordinating with the appropriate internal specialists to resolve complex inquiries. - Maintain accurate employee and customer records across internal systems and vendor platforms, following strong data-management practices.

- Lead end-to-end compliance projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams on local and global HR initiatives. - Identify opportunities to improve HR Operations through automation, AI-enabled tools, and more efficient workflows. - Apply analytical and creative problem-solving to prevent errors, resolve complex situations, and develop practical solutions that balance stakeholder needs. - Support the implementation and adoption of product and AI-related initiatives that improve operational efficiency. - Work independently with limited supervision while contributing effectively to broader team priorities. Requirements - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources, International Business, Accounting, Law, or a related discipline. - 5+ years of HR experience, ideally in an HR Specialist, HR Generalist, or HR Business Partner capacity. - Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, HR practices, and regulatory requirements, particularly those affecting the management of employees and professionals in Canada. - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and compliance. - Strong self-management skills, with the ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions with limited guidance. - Resourcefulness and adaptability, with the ability to navigate unfamiliar situations, investigate issues, and develop compliant solutions. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused approach to HR support. - Experience working with international teams and sensitivity to different cultural norms, values, and communication styles. - Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint. - Experience using AI tools to improve productivity, automate routine work, or streamline HR processes. - Excellent organization, reliability, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
