This position is designed to provide valuable experience and training in sales, with the potential to turn into a permanent role. We’re looking for a Sales Trainee to join our Vernon office located in Vernon, British Columbia for a 12-month term. Tolko’s Sales Development Program is a structured multi-year pathway designed to build a strong foundation of sales skills and business acumen . Participants gain hands-on experience across key areas, develop customer relationship skills , and build the capabilities needed for growth within Tolko.

Our head office houses Tolko’s corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement, and Human Resources.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

• Post-secondary degree in a related field.
• Previous customer service or sales experience preferred.
• Strong customer service orientation with a passion for building relationships .
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and computer-based analytical skills.
• Must be a self-starter with a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness and creativity .
• Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment .
• Knowledge of the forestry industry is considered an asset.

In this role, you will:

• Maximize net return to the Business Units through effective product planning, sales strategies , and monitoring of market conditions and competitor actions .
• Work with members of the Sales Team and the Sales Coordinators to develop weekly and periodic sales lists for our external customers.
• Ensure the Business Units are supplied with orders that match mill production and the supply of transportation equipment.
• Manage finished inventory levels to target levels, considering inventory costs, market conditions, and product deterioration.
• Provide regular information to internal customers regarding market trends and external customer feedback .
• Negotiate fair settlements of customer claims on behalf of the business units.
• Assist in the preparation of annual financial budgets , business plans , and strategic plans .
• Maintain a customer base (North America) that matches mill production capabilities.
• Professionally represent Tolko Marketing and Sales to the public.
