Position Overview

Aecon Construction Solutions Inc. (ACSI) is a multi-disciplined construction company offering superior civil, electrical and mechanical services including piping, insulation, scaffolding, and module fabrication. We’re always on the search for exceptional craft candidates to fill our ever-expanding project portfolios. We are focused on hiring only those exceptional individuals who value safety in the workplace and remain committed to the collective goal of maintaining our Aecon ‘zero injury’ culture.

ACSI is seeking experienced Concrete Finisher Apprentices & Journeypersons who will be integral to our BioSolids project in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the concrete finisher will play a key role in the placement, finishing, and curing of concrete for various civil infrastructure projects, including slab, pile cabs, grade beams, and other concrete structures. 

Key Responsibilities

• Place, level, and finish freshly poured concrete.
• Operate hand and power finishing tools.
• Pour, and finish slabs, curbs, grade beams, pile caps, and other concrete structures.
• Apply curing compounds and protective treatments.
• Perform concrete repairs and patching as required.
• Maintain quality workmanship and production targets.
• Follow company safety policies and procedures.
• Assist with site preparation, cleanup, and general labour duties when required.
• Journeyperson will mentor apprentices respectfully and oversee their safety.

Requirements and Experience

• CSTS-20 Certificate
• Mobile Elevated Work Platform
• Experience as a Concrete Finisher in commercial, civil, or industrial construction.
• Ability to finish concrete to specified elevations and tolerances.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
• Proven ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
• Must have a strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and policies.
• Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Candidates may be required to complete a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen and/or criminal record check.
