The candidate will be familiar with allocation protocols and participate in deceased donor case work‑up as well as allocation of organs and deceased donor multiorgan procurement as part of regular duties.

The candidate will be expected to be trained, experienced and independent in all aspects of transplant surgery, including minimally invasive living donor surgery, kidney implant surgery, multiorgan deceased donor procurement, allograft nephrectomy, urinary reconstruction post‑transplantation, etc.

Preferences will be made for candidates who hold ASTS certification in Kidney and/or Multiorgan Transplantation from an accredited ASTS training site. The candidate is expected to forward programmatic agendas, including formal QA/QI work, program advancement through strategic advocacy at the provincial, national and international levels, and/or initiate/advance a domain of transplant‑related research throughout their career. Candidates are eligible and expected to apply for and successfully advance an academic appointment through the University of British Columbia.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic and excellent multidisciplinary, team‑based acumen, working with transplant nephrology, other transplant clinical transplant services, allied health and more. The candidate will be regularly involved in teaching responsibilities for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees as well as fellows, which will be day‑to‑day requirements and form a significant pillar of promotions and tenure evaluation of the candidate's UBC academic appointment.

The successful candidate will participate in Kidney Transplant Surgery on‑call schedules as well as the below‑diaphragm procurement schedule, and together with the existing surgical team will commit to 24/7/365 transplant surgical services coverage for the province.
