Research Programmer (Toronto)

Job Summary

The Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest has an opportunity for a Research Programmer (Position Number: 9659). This is a temporary full‑time role (up to 12 months) with a day shift and bi‑weekly 70 hours. The position is based in Toronto and is non‑union. RRI is a premier interdisciplinary, international centre for the study of human brain function, focusing on cognitive neuroscience, aging and brain health, Alzheimer's and related diseases, computational modeling and neuroinformatics.

Responsibilities

• Modification of web functionalities within a live framework.
• Creation of recent web modules.
• Bug isolation and correction.
• Creating documentation for technical and non‑technical users.
• Data entry and data correction.
• Performing IT‑technician duties as required or as needs arise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Skilled in Python, HTML, Apache, MySQL, with heavy focus on PHP.
• Experience integrating CSS, JavaScript, and related technologies.
• Capable of working within Linux and comfortable with both GUI and command‑line environments.
• Familiarity with CMS operation is beneficial.
• Good written and verbal communication in English.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Schedule / Location

Negotiable part‑time (3 days per week) up to full‑time (5 days per week). Work will be on‑site with the possibility of working from home evaluated based on task evolution.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $66,021 – $82,526, depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, abilities, and education and experience, as well as market conditions and internal equity.
