Academic Psychiatrist – Adult Psychiatry Consult Liaison
We invite applications for the full‑time position of Academic Psychiatrist with appropriate experience to work in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences (DPBN), McMaster University and the Adult Psychiatry Consult Liaison team based at St. Joseph’s Hospital Charlton Site. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
We are recruiting for an academic psychiatrist who has interest and expertise in caring for persons who present with neuropsychiatric presentations, particularly functional neuropsychiatric presentations. This position has a strong academic component and will require evidence of previous scholarly work in this field.
The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary consultation liaison team, including physicians, nurses and a neuropsychologist. The position will be primarily outpatient focused with an opportunity for collaborative clinical work with the neurology service. The candidate will hold or be eligible to apply for a valid licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ontario and be a trained psychiatrist with FRCPC or equivalent.
The appointee will hold a full‑time academic appointment in Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at an academic rank appropriate to their credentials and experience. The position offers excellent benefits, and remuneration is commensurate with academic rank and position duties and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary consultation liaison team to provide outpatient care for neuropsychiatric and functional neuropsychiatric patients.
- Engage in clinical work coordinated with the neurology service.
- Maintain a valid licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ontario and demonstrate training in psychiatry (FRCPC or equivalent).
- Fulfill academic duties, including teaching, research, and scholarly activities relevant to neuropsychiatry.
Qualifications
- Experience caring for patients with neuropsychiatric and functional neuropsychiatric presentations.
- Evidence of prior scholarly work in neuropsychiatry or related fields.
- Eligibility to hold a valid licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ontario.
- Accomplished psychiatrist with FRCPC or equivalent training.
- Academic background commensurate with an academic rank at McMaster University.
