Overview

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario’s capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The OSC protects investors from unfair, improper, or fraudulent practices, fosters fair, efficient, and competitive capital markets, encourages capital formation, and contributes to financial stability and the reduction of systemic risk. The Commission performs these activities through policy, operational, and enforcement functions and also contributes to national and global securities regulation development. Role Overview

Articling Student (Fixed Term), Full time – Aug2027to Jun2028, within the Trading and Markets Division. Responsibilities

Regulate market infrastructure entities in Ontario, such as marketplaces, self‑regulatory organizations, protection funds, and clearing agencies. Oversee derivatives regulation and dealer policy development and implementation. Develop policy relating to market structure, clearing and settlement, and fixed‑income. Assist on challenging operational files and policy projects. Qualifications

Excellent academic record with a high standard of legal writing. Strong legal analytical abilities and aptitude for research. Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple demands on time. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Interest in securities law would be an asset. Application Requirements
