Senior Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant

Now hiring a Senior Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant for a well-established, locally owned and operated company in Squamish, BC. The Perfect Candidate: 

• 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, with strong full-cycle accounting knowledge.
• Strong experience with Sage 50 and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with job costing or project-based accounting is an asset.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, reliable, and analytical, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Confident working independently, taking ownership of the accounting function, and working directly with company leadership.
• Bookkeeping or accounting certification is an asset, but not required.
• Experience in construction, contracting, forestry, heavy equipment, or similar project-based industries is beneficial.

Responsibilities Include: 

• Manage full-cycle bookkeeping and day-to-day accounting, including A/P, A/R, payroll, and general ledger activities.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, reporting, and reconciliations, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and job costing to support informed business decisions.
• Coordinate year-end accounting and external accountant requirements, including necessary entries and documentation.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls to support efficient and accurate financial operations.
