About The Role
A growing criminal defence firm is seeking a Criminal Defence Lawyer to join its Medicine Hat office . The firm represents clients across Alberta and appears regularly in Provincial Court and the Court of King's Bench.
This position is open to all experience levels -from newly called lawyers to experienced counsel.
You will have the opportunity to build and run your own files while gaining consistent courtroom exposure .

Responsibilities
- Represent clients in bail hearings, trials, sentencings, and appeals
- Manage criminal files from intake to resolution
- Review disclosure and prepare defence strategies
- Conduct legal research and draft submissions
- Appear in court in Medicine Hat and throughout Alberta (including circuit courts)
- Communicate effectively with clients, Crown, and the Court
Qualifications
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta (or eligible for transfer)
- Interest or experience in criminal law
- Strong advocacy and communication skills
- Ability to manage a fast-paced caseload
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel
- Active status on the Criminal Roster with Legal Aid Alberta is considered a strong asset
