Job Responsibility:

Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) has an opening for a Hearing Care Counsellor based in London. Reporting to the Supervisor, Hearing Care Counselling, the Hearing Care Counsellor will be responsible for providing individual counselling, support, and case management for eligible Hearing Care Counselling (HCC) clients (age 55 and up and hard of hearing or deaf).

This will be a full-time contract position for one year, working Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in the Social Services field (e.g. nursing) along with 3-5 years' counselling experience with the elderly. French would be an asset. You also have proven knowledge of and experience in the hearing loss field including evaluating hearing loss utilizing audioscope and audiometer testing devices as well as providing general instruction to clients in the use, care, and maintenance of hearing aids and assistive listening devices.

You have excellent administrative and interpersonal skills including liaising and consulting with other counsellors, agencies, and services to promote the independence and empowerment of clients with acquired hearing loss, so as to enhance daily functioning, safety and social access. You have a sense of urgency and can handle a pressurized environment with the ability to manage a varied workload with competing priorities and deadlines.
